The prospect of a nonstop connection between Lagos and São Paulo has renewed interest in the Brazil–Nigeria travel market. According to a report by Beatrice Teizen, published by PANROTAS on October 22, Air Peace has filed a flight schedule with a proposed start date of December 15, 2026, based on information recorded in Siros, the flight operations information system of Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency, ANAC.

The reported schedule provides for one weekly flight between Lagos and São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport, using a Boeing 777-200 configured with 274 seats. The filings cover operations through March 2027. However, the registration does not constitute definitive confirmation of the launch: dates, times, and operational arrangements remain subject to change.

Afribraz Global Business Magazine has not yet received direct confirmation from Air Peace regarding the launch and is awaiting official information from the airline. The flight schedule details presented here are attributed to PANROTAS, based on the portal’s reported consultation of Siros.

An Opportunity That Deserves Careful Preparation

A nonstop service between Brazil and Nigeria could facilitate business travel, family visits, tourism and cultural exchanges. For passengers traveling between the two countries, avoiding connections through other markets could make the journey more convenient, depending on fares, schedules and onward connections at either end.

For businesses, improved connectivity could support trade missions, exhibition attendance, technical visits and negotiations across sectors such as agribusiness, energy, technology and services.

Realising that potential, however, will depend on execution. An international route needs reliable operations, competitive commercial terms, accessible customer support and sufficient certainty for passengers and businesses to plan their commitments.

The Market’s Question: When Can Agencies Start Selling?

With less than two months between this article’s publication and the proposed launch date, a practical question arises: when will travel agencies receive clear guidance and be able to issue tickets?

According to the commercial experience shared with the editorial team by Afribraz, information about the opening of sales and ticketing procedures is still lacking. This account does not establish that every Brazilian agency faces the same situation, but it highlights a concrete need for clarification among professionals interested in selling the route.                                                                     * Ethiopian Airlines Wins Africa’s Top Airline Award for Ninth Consecutive Year

It is also necessary to distinguish between an airline’s operational authorisation, its filed flight schedule and the commercial availability of tickets. These are related stages, but a date appearing in a scheduling system does not, by itself, explain where tickets can be purchased, how agencies can issue them or which conditions will apply.

One relevant development is that APG has announced its appointment as Air Peace’s Passenger General Sales Agent in Brazil, with responsibility for supporting commercial development and engagement with the travel trade. This provides an institutional point of reference for the market, although the announcement alone does not confirm that sales for the new route have opened.

Early Communication Is Part of a Successful Launch

The constructive message to Air Peace and its commercial representative is straightforward: a service with this potential deserves a publicly communicated timetable for its launch and the opening of ticket sales.

Travel agencies need time to prepare quotations, advise passengers and coordinate accommodation, transfers and group arrangements. Companies must approve expenditure and organise business schedules. Families need to assess costs and travel dates. Unanswered questions may lead prospective customers to choose alternatives already available for booking.

The following clarifications would be particularly useful:

  • Whether December 15 remains the proposed launch date;
  • When sales will open and which ticketing channels will be available;
  • How Brazilian travel agencies can sell and issue tickets for the route;
  • Which baggage, change, cancellation and refund conditions will apply;
  • Which contacts will provide trade support and passenger assistance in Brazil.

Providing these details would help turn interest into bookings and enable travel professionals to recommend the service with confidence.

A Weekly Service Requires Attention to Passenger Needs

The proposed weekly frequency also warrants commercial consideration. A limited initial schedule may allow the airline to develop demand gradually, but it gives passengers fewer departure options.

For corporate travellers, the route’s usefulness will depend on how well its operating days align with meetings and other commitments. For groups and families, understanding the available alternatives in the event of a schedule change will be equally important.

Beyond ticket sales, the launch should therefore explain how passengers will be supported during disruptions or flight changes. Communicating these arrangements in advance would strengthen confidence in the service and help establish lasting relationships with the market.

Positive Expectations, Matched by Responsibility

Afribraz welcomes the prospect of stronger connectivity between Brazil and Nigeria. The initiative could create opportunities for tourism, business and closer engagement between two societies with considerable scope for cooperation.

The call for clear information reflects those positive expectations. The sooner the airline and its representatives brief the market, the better positioned travel professionals will be to develop demand and support a well-prepared launch.

An air bridge begins taking shape before the first departure: it also depends on the confidence of those selling the journey, those buying it and those who need certainty to plan.
